Why THAT Festival?

When CDT discussed hosting a festival at HH Community Farm in Middletown, CT, both organizations knew they wanted an event to remember, and a relationship to last.

CDT proposed THAT Festival: Theatre, Humanities, Arts, Together!

Firstly, the cultural significance of THAT in the Deaf community is simultaneously inarguable and iconic. Used as a term of agreement or exclamation, THAT resonates across our community. We knew it could be a simple yet effective brand.

But why Theatre, Humanities, Arts, Together?

THAT Festival was born out of seeing the same values that Connecticut Deaf Theatre and HH Stonewall Community Farm share:

  • The importance of uplifting Deaf and Disabled people
  • The role theatre, arts, and humanities plays in our lives, impacting how we express ourselves all the way to how we plant food and care for animals

This is why we’ve invited local and national organizations, programs, and artists that meet our values. Some focus on the natural and humanities component, while others focus on the arts and theatre, but all have a passion about uplifting Deaf and Disabled people.

We truly look forward to having you join us and meet the astounding people working with us towards the same mission!
